Imprégnez-vous de la vie parisienne!

This is real Paris living. The village of Auteuil comprises the southern half of the 16th arrondissement. The metro stop (Mirabeau) is only 90 seconds away; you can buy a ticket mensuel (monthly ticket) with your carte orange and save money on the monthly metro ticket. If you like traveling by bus—a marvelous way to see Paris—the bus line 72 stops 2 blocks from the apartment and spirits you to the Place de la Concorde or the Eiffel Tower in merely 10 minutes while you marvel at the views of the Seine River the entire way from your seat next to the window.

La rue d’Auteuil is filled with shops, boutiques, and commerce of all sorts. Butchers, boulangeries, several restaurants, elegant charcuteries, florists, home stores, bakeries...even Chinese takeout are all available on this bustling street, about a 4-minute walk from the apartment. Your supermarket is around the corner and you can bring the rolling cart with you to put your groceries in like everyone else in the neighborhood. Auteuil prides itself on its select boutiques, food shops such as Le Nôtre, and several neighborhood restaurants. If you prefer the supermarket Monoprix, there is one right on the rue d’Auteuil; they even deliver your groceries for you. You can get your hair cut and a have a pedicure at one of the several hair salons in the village; many shoe stores and boutiques line the streets. Don’t miss the open-air marché on the Place Jean Lorrain every Wednesday and Saturday to shop for your fresh fruits and vegetables.

You won’t find many tourists in Auteuil; they’re too busy jostling against one another in St. Germain. Here you’ll find yourself among Parisians, going about their business just like you’ll be. You won’t overhear much English, a nice break from TouristLand, although the shop keepers are more than happy to accommodate you in English if your high school French should suddenly fail you as you order your Camembert or your rosbif. And as you return home after shopping and let yourself into the building, deftly punching in your digicode, the passers-by will wonder who their new neighbor is…

It’s easy to get here!

• Fly into Charles de Gaulle Airport and take a taxi to the apartment. Definitely the easiest solution after a night in the plane but the most expensive. About 50 E (depending on traffic)

• If you travel lightly and are adventurous, take the RER B from the airport to the St- Michel/Notre Dame station and change to metro Line 10. Get off at Eglise d’Auteuil and walk the block and a half to the apartment. About 15 E.

• Take the Air France bus (12 E) from the Airport to the Porte Maillot station. Here you can either take a taxi to the apartment (about 10 E) or jump on the RER C and get off at the Javel/André Citroen station. Then cross the Mirabeau Bridge (admire the view of the Eiffel Tower and the miniature of the Statue of Liberty on the way) and you’ll be at the apartment 5 minutes later.
