"Valerie, We couldn’t have been happier in your home in Bar-sur-Loup. The four of us fit in there perfectly, and we were mercifully spared arguments over use the bathroom, thanks to the separation of one on each floor. My 21-year-old daughter and my 24-yr old son happily went their separate ways from us in the village, trying out their high school/college French, thrilled when they came back with the requisite grocery list. My husband and I spent untold hours hanging out the windows, shooting zillions of pictures (see the enclosed, of which you have doubles, I’m sure!), as well as relaxing, reading books and cooking. The four of us went to every village and town you recommended and filled the already-filled guest book with stories of our adventures. We loved the area and found the French accommodating, friendly, even smiling, and wondered where all those rude waiters we’ve always heard about were hanging out—we certainly never saw or were served by one. On the contrary, the French people couldn’t have been nicer and more pleasant and willing to put up with our fractured French language skills, although my daughter and son did the lion’s share of the ordering to spare their parents further humiliation. The house was very comfortable and we found everything we could have possibly wanted, even a picnic basket and ice packs to keep our cokes and white wine chilled as we set off for the day’s outing. In addition to ranging far and near, we also stayed very local, hanging out at the Loup River, walking the Gorges du Loup, hiking up to Gordon (the best family adventure of all!), and eating in the three restaurants in town. When we ran out of the bottled gas in the kitchen, we did as you instructed and called Madame Mamonti who came over immediately with her husband (although I don’t know how she figured out what we needed, given our broken French on the phone) and changed the bottle for us, with a smile. The next day, we found a freshly baked apple pie on the kitchen table when we returned from our day’s outing….with a little note from her (we think it said “I had some extra apples”). We were blown away."

"Valerie, I would like tell you about the wonderful experience we had staying in your townhouse in Bar Sur Loup. It was our first trip to Europe, and I don’t think we could have chosen a better spot. I wish I could tell you that one thing was the highlight; however I find I cannot because the entire trip was a highlight! We loved the art museums—Musee de Beaux Arts in Nice, the museum in Menton, the Picasso Museum in Antibes. We loved the restaurants, the food, the bread, the wine………….we loved the people and the locale. I studied French for 4 years in high school and college, but never had an opportunity to use my knowledge. I actually found that upon some occasions I was able to communicate with folks, and even understand a few conversations. People were unfailingly polite and cordial, and went out of their way to accommodate us. We did lots of sightseeing and shopping, and went to some lovely sidewalk cafes, all of which were superb. We felt welcome everywhere we went, and did not feel out of place at all. Your house was delightful and had all the necessary conveniences. We four were all very comfortable there…and that view! Unforgettable."
